in addition to routine, conventional ENT procedures.
Teaching is the most important aspect of our day-to-day activities.
Undergraduate lectures, tutorials, group discussions and ward
rounds are a norm in ENT department. Students are encouraged to
participate in all aspects of patient care including surgical
and emergent management.
The
ENT department of Mayo Hospital has the privilege and honor of
training the highest number of Fellows of College of Physicians
and Surgeons of Pakistan and a large number of Masters in Surgery
as well. A large number of our trainees are currently heading
independent ENT units as professors and consultants in various
government and private institutions of Pakistan. Many of them
are working as specialists and consultants abroad.
We
are very active research facilities. Many projects are currently
underway. A large number of research articles are published each
year by the faculty and staff of ENT Department. The department
has presented original research work at National / International
level.
The
department is on editorial board of Annals of KEMC, and International
Journal of Otorhinolaryngology. ENT Unit-I has a close liaison
with its sister departments and especially a tumor board meeting
is a salient feature. A weekly journal club and departmental clinicopathological
conference greatly helps the doctors to keep their knowledge up-to-date
and is a feature of CME.
