A delegation, Alumni of KEMU led by Dean and President KEMCANA called on Governor Punjab at Governor House

A delegation of Alumni of King Edward Medical University led by Dean King Edward Medical University, Professor Shehzad Shams and President KEMCANA Dr. Irfan Munir called on Governor Punjab Muhammad Balighur Rehman at Governor House Lahore. Governor Punjab congratulated the delegation on the successful conduct of the 43rd Annual International Scientific Symposium. The delegation comprised President KEMCANA, Dr. Irfan Munir, Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Ejaz Hussain, Prof. Saira Afzal, Registrar Prof. Asghar Naqi, Prof. Abrar Ashraf, Dr. Shahzad Khan and others.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor Punjab Muhammad Balighur Rehman said that the passion of the alumni to stay connected with their alma mater and to play a role in its improvement is valuable. Governor Punjab said that Pakistani doctors enjoy good repute all over the world due to their competence and professional skills.
He said that Pakistani doctors living abroad are also active in the welfare of their fellow countrymen. Governor Punjab said that the way doctors worked on the front line during the Covid pandemic is unprecedented. He further said that the spirit with which overseas Pakistanis helped their countrymen during floods, covid pandemic, and earthquake is commendable.
Governor Punjab said that keeping abreat of new technology and research is very important in the fieldofmedicine. He said that the surge in diabetes cases in Pakistan is alarming. Governor Punjab said that as Chancellor, he has given special instructions for holding seminars and sessions for creating awareness about diabetes in universities.
On this occasion, Professor Dr. Shahzad Shams highlighted the role of KEMCA (King Edward Medical College Association of America) and KEMCAANA (King Edward Medical College Association of Alumni of North America) to the Governor of Punjab in the improvement of King Edward Medical University. He said that we are very grateful for the patronage of the Chancellor/Governor of Punjab on the establishment of endowment fund for Edward Medical University and other matters. Professor Dr. Shahzad President KEMCANA Dr. Irfan Munir said that the alumni will continue to serve their alma mater, and suffering humanity with the same spirit.
Later, Punjab Governor Muhammad Balighur Rehman visited the residence of Sardar Azhar Khan Leghari where he offered condolences to Sardar Azhar Khan Leghari and former Federal Minister Arshad Khan Leghari on the sad demise of their brother Captain (Rtd) Umar Khan Leghari. On this occasion, the Punjab Governor prayed for elevation of the ranks of the deceased.
