History of Department of Radiology

The Department of Radiology of King Edward Medical College / Mayo Hospital Lahore has been headed by the following.

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

VISION

  • Centralization of all the Radiological subspecialty services
  • Each subspecialty department including A & E, OPD, Urology, Gynae & Obs, and Pediatrics Department will be managed by Assistant Professor for each department under direct supervision of Chairman of Radiology.
  • Digitalization / film less technology in radiology
  • Installation of PACS system in radiology and intergrade with clinical departments.

  • Role of Doppler ultrasound in evaluating thyroid masses taking histopathology as gold standard.
  • Role of quantitative computed tomography in determining bone mineral density in post-menopausal women.
  • Role of triphasic computer tomography in evaluation of hepatic lesions masses.
  • Role of Doppler as a predictor of renal impairments in patients with chronic HCV infection and its correlation with renal function tests.

Director General Health Dr Zahid Pervez visited new 128 CT Scan at Mayo Hospital Lahore.

  • Digitalization i.e conversion to digital X-Rays of Main Radiology Department and A & E Department.
  • Mammographic Facilities in Main Radiology Department.

FUTURE MEASURES

  • PACS Integration System in Radiology Department and also associated with all departments of Mayo Hospital.
  • State of the Art new Radiology department at Surgical Tower will be having long awaited MRI scanner & other Radiology equipment like CT scan, Digital

Fluoroscopy, color Doppler ultrasound and Digital X-Ray Machines.

HEALTH SERVICES / STATE OF ART FACILITIES

The department is actively providing 24/7 services for X-rays, Ultrasound and C.T-Scan in Accident & Emergency along with Indoor and Outdoor services also including Fluoroscopy, Mammography, Color Doppler and Interventional procedures.
