A Glaucoma Awareness Walk was organized by the College of Ophthalmology and Allied Vision Sciences, affiliated with King Edward Medical University, with the aim of raising public awareness about glaucoma. The event, held at the College of Ophthalmology and Allied Vision Sciences, Mayo Hospital, was graced by the presence of Prof. Dr. Mahmood Ayyaz, the Vice Chancellor of King Edward Medical University, who participated as the chief guest.

In attendance were esteemed academics including Prof. Muhammad Moin, Principal of the College of Ophthalmology, Prof. Syed Asghar Naqi, Registrar of KEMU, Prof. Saira Afzal, Prof. Hammad Ayub, Prof. Asad Aslam Khan, Prof. Javed Chaudhry, President of OSP, and other prominent ophthalmologists. Participants of the walk carried informative placards and materials to educate the public about glaucoma, its diagnosis, treatment, and prevention.

During the event, Prof. Mahmood Ayyaz emphasized the importance of timely diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma, a disease that can lead to irreversible vision loss. He highlighted the ongoing efforts, including the repair and rehabilitation of the eight-story building at Mayo Hospital, which, upon completion, will provide comprehensive eye care services free of cost, aligning with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

Prof. Muhammad Moin underscored the significance of timely diagnosis and treatment in managing glaucoma and preserving vision. Prof. Asad Aslam Khan emphasized the importance of regular eye examinations for glaucoma patients to maintain eye health.

The walk was also attended by Prof. Ahsan Nauman, CEO of Mayo Hospital Lahore, Prof. Saira Afzal, Dean of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, Prof. Dr. Suhail Sarwar, Prof. Zahid Kamal Siddiqui, Prof. Dr. Syed Raza Ali Shah, Prof. Dr. Ali Ayaz Sadiq, as well as faculty and students. Special recognition was given to Dr. Nasir Chaudhry, Dr. Salman Hamza, and Dr. Saman Ali for their participation in the walk.
