Meeting was convened at KEMU to discuss feasibility report of the Nawaz Sharif Cancer Care & Research Centre

A meeting was convened at King Edward Medical University Lahore to discuss the feasibility report of the Nawaz Sharif Cancer Care Hospital and Research Centre, in line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. Vice Chancellor Prof. Mahmood Ayyaz chaired the committee, constituted by the Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department, to finalize the report for this significant project.

The meeting was attended by esteemed members including Special Secretary of SHC&MED Mr. Wajid Ali Shah, Chief Planning Officer Abdul Haque Bhatti, COO of Mayo Cancer Care Hospital Prof. Wasim Hayat Khan, as well as Prof. Syed Asghar Naqi, Prof. Abrar Ashraf Ali, Prof. Abbas Khokhar, Prof. Haroon Javed Majid, Mr. Shahzad Leghari from IDAP, Dr. Samreen Hameed, Dr. Umar Waraich, and others.

During the meeting, the committee reviewed a draft feasibility report, which had been shared with national and international oncology experts for their input. The proposals and recommendations received were thoroughly examined and incorporated into the report. The revised feasibility draft will be forwarded to SHC&MED for further submission to IDAP, which will prepare the design and drawings for the project. Mr. Wajid Ali Shah, the Special Secretary of SHC&ME, suggested dividing the equipment requirements for the project into two phases to ensure its successful operation.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Mahmood Ayyaz emphasized the urgency of completing the project and submitting the feasibility report within two days. He highlighted the tireless efforts being made day and night to establish the Nawaz Sharif Cancer Care Hospital and Research Centre, which aims to provide free diagnosis and treatment for cancer patients under one roof, aligning with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
