Pre conference Workshop on DIMENSIONS OF LEADERSHIP IN HEALTHCARE By WEST MEDICAL WARD

In the context of the 43th KEMCAANA Annual Scientific Conference 2023 in king Edward Medical University, with VC KEMU Prof Mahmood Ayyaz as Patron in chief, a pre-conference workshop titled ” DIMENSIONS OF LEADERSHIP IN HEALTHCARE” was organized by WEST MEDICINE DEPARTMENT on 14th December, Thursday 2023 at West Medical Ward, King Edward Medical University/ Mayo Hospital, Lahore under the leadership of Prof.Adil Iqbal Head of department WMW.

The event was moderates by Dr. Hina Latif, assistant professor KEMU. It started with recitation of Holy Quran followed by brief introduction to the topic and introduction of Facilitators, panellists and Guest of honors. Prof. Adil Iqbal welcomed the participants and mentioned the learning objectives of the workshop and the need to address such topics.

Prof. DR. MAHMOOD AYYAZ VC KEMU and Patron-In-chief, highlighted the importance of leadership skills and their legitimate application. Prof. Dr. Ahsan Nauman MS Mayo hospital also graced the occasion.

Prof. M.Imran head of department of Medicine EMW along with Prof. Israr ul Haq Toor graced the activity as panellist. The workshop was well attended by senior faculty members from all departments and by junior and senior colleagues.

Prof. Tariq Waseem who was the speaker, highlighted the different attributes of leadership and emphasised the need of putting leadership as a part of curriculum in under and post-graduate studies as formal training in leadership receives little attention.

His brainy talk with day to day examples made the audience understand all the components of leadership with different theories and leadership styles. A questionnaire was distributed among participants for evaluation of their own leadership style with a scoring system which amazed most of the audience and was appreciated by all. The talk was followed by pearls of wisdom by worthy panelists.

Activity was concluded with vote of thanks by Dr. Nasir Farooq Butt associate Professor KEMU and souvenier distribution. More than 70 participants attended the workshop with a highly impactful feedback.
