Achievement was marked by Oncology & Radiotherapy, as they successfully restored a Radiotherapy Machine

A significant achievement was marked by the Mayo Hospital Department of Oncology & Radiotherapy, as they successfully restored a radiotherapy machine that had been inoperative for three years. This feat was accomplished through the diligent efforts of the hospital administration.

The event was graced by the presence of the Chief Guest, distinguished KEMCOLIAN, and Honorable Federal Tax Ombudsman, Dr. Asif Mahmood Jah, along with the Guest of Honor, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mahmood Ayyaz. Also in attendance were Chief Executive Officer of Mayo Hospital, Prof. Ahsan Nauman, Chief Operating Officer Prof. Faisal Masood, Registrar of KEMU Prof. Syed Asghar Naqi, Head of the Oncology Department Prof. Abbas Khokhar, Prof. Rana Muhammad Arshad, and various other faculty members.

Dr. Abbas Khokhar highlighted the services offered by the Oncology Department and briefed the audience about the facilities provided to the patients. Prof. Ahsan Nauman conveyed his utmost appreciation and recognition for the noble cause, attributing it to service to the country. He expressed pride in hosting Dr. Asif Mahmood Jah. Prof. Faisal Masood acknowledged his gratitude for being a part of Vice Chancellor Prof. Mahmood Ayyaz’s team, and prayed that he gets every opportunity to serve Mayo Hospital, humanity, and the country.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Mahmood Ayyaz expressed his foremost appreciation to Dr. Asif Mahmood Jah for the restoration of the defunct Cobalt 60 source which will help to provide free diagnosis and treatment to cancer patients at Mayo Hospital. He highlighted that it is due to the keen and intense interest shown by the Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif for provision of the top-class cancer care hospital for the people of the province by establishing a cancer care hospital at the public level in the near future.

He emphasized that without the Cobalt 60 source, the restoration of the machine would not have been possible and commended the efforts of Prof. Ahsan Nauman and the special support of Dr. Asif Mehmood Jah. He further said that Dr. Asif Mahmood Jah is one of the most glorious KEMCOLIAN who despite opting for civil services and excelling there always looked after and supported KEMU as a true son of alma mater.

He also appreciated the commendable efforts of Dr. Salman Kazmi who initially pointed out that the Cobalt 60 source needs to be shifted at Mayo Hospital.
Dr. Asif Mahmood Jah elucidated that all the legal matters for the restoration of the machine were completed in a record period of two months. He expressed his close relationship with Mayo Hospital and King Edward Medical University and pledged his continued dedication to serving humanity. He also mentioned that the Federal Tax Ombudsman provides instant justice for all the tax-related issues.
