A state of the art lecture on Robotic Surgery: Future Innovations in Surgical Training and Skill Development

A state of the art lecture on “Robotic Surgery: Future Innovations in Surgical Training and Skill Development” was given on the occasion of 43 KEMUCON by Prof Mahmood Ayyaz.

He started by outlining the evolution of surgery from open to robotic phase. He highlighted the advantages of robotic surgery and the technical innovations which have made these possible. He demonstrated videos from recently done procedures to the audience.

He also introduced the audience to the robotic system along with the integrated AI platform. The various steps of robotic surgery such as draping, docking and intra-op steps were shown. He also showed how the AI system generated the feedback and enabled in decreasing the learning curve of the surgeon.

He concluded by highlighting the recently established AI school at KEMU and introduction of Virtual Reality systems for simulated training at KEMU. He highly encouraged the young participants to adopt newer skills and technology.
