A PRECONFERANCE WORKSHOP 43rd Annual International Scientific KEMCAANA UK, APNA on “A stitch in time..” conducted in conference room of Lady Aitchison Hospital/KEMU,LHR on Monday, 11th December 2023 by Prof Dr Nadia Khurshid HOD ob-gyne Unit V,KEMU/LAH,LHR.
Vice Chancellor KEMU Lahore Prof Dr Mahmood Ayyaz was Patron-in-chief. Dr. Ameer Afzal Medical Superintendent Lady Aitchison Hospital was the Guest of honour.
Prof Dr Nadia Khurshid warmly welcomed all guests and participants, introduced the agenda of workshop and explained how management of PPH by uterine compression sutures and vascular ligation can be lifesaving.
Guest Speaker Prof Dr Aisha Malik (HOD ob-gyn unit 1 FJMU) gave lecture on “My experience of uterine compression sutures”. Guest speaker Prof Dr Syed Asghar Naqi (Registrar KEMU,
Chairman department of surgery, KEMU/MAYO hospital, LHR) gave lecture on “internal artery ligation A lifesaving skill.” Vice Chancellor KEMU Lahore Prof Dr Mahmood Ayyaz taught participants about importance of management of PPH by uterine compression sutures and vascular ligation. Dr Uzma Hussain (Chairperson & HOD ob-gyn Unit 1, KEMU/LWH, LHR) taught participants about various Uterine compression sutures. Prof Dr Nadia Khurshid (HOD ob-gyne Unit V,KEMU/LAH,LHR) taught participants “The golden hour-overview”.
Vice Chancellor KEMU Lahore Prof Dr Mahmood Ayyaz emphasized use of vascular compression sutures and appreciated efforts of Prof Dr Nadia Khurshid and team for organising such a useful event that will help residents to improve their clinical skills.Workshop covered each and every aspect of topic through interactive and hands on stations. There were total 7 stations which include epi balls and uterine tourniquet, vascular ligation and compression sutures, animal
Models, pelvic anatomy, how to construct bony pelvis, internal iliac ligations, knot tying. More than 30 participants of different hospitals participated. Feedback was taken from postgraduates who found this workshop very useful, they learned how to identify and manage PPH by various uterine compression sutures and vascular ligation.
Conference was concluded with distribution of shields and certificates.
