Bone Oncology Seminar was conducted by The Department of Orthopedic Surgery Unit-II, KEMU/MHL

In order to promote academic and research excellence within the faculty “Bone Oncology Seminar” was conducted by The Department of Orthopedic Surgery Unit-II, King Edward Medical University/Mayo Hospital Lahore. The event was organized by Prof. Dr. Faisal Masood in collaboration with the Faculty of Orthopedic Surgery of King Edward Medical University, Aga Khan University Karachi, Sheikh Zayed Medical College Lahore, and the Oncology Forum of Pakistan Orthopedic Association.
The honorable Prof. Dr. Mahmood Ayyaz, Vice Chancellor of King Edward Medical University, inaugurated the event and shared his valuable thoughts and experiences with the participants. Prof. Syed Asghar Naqi, Chairman of the Department of Surgery, emphasized the importance of joint efforts in amputation surgery and optimizing treatment. Prof. Abrar Ashraf Ali, Director of Medical Education, KEMU praised the Orthopaedic Department’s efforts and assured his full support for such activities. Prof. Haroon Hamid, CEO of Mayo Hospital, and Prof. Muhammad Moin, Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology, were also among the distinguished guests.
The academic session began with a lecture by Prof. Faisal Masood on Bone Oncology Overview, followed by lectures from Prof. Masood Umer, head of Orthopedics at Aga Khan University, on various aspects of bone tumors, diagnosis, and treatments. Prof. Syed Wasif Ali Shah gave a talk on Giant Cell Tumors and presented a series of cases of bone tumor surgeries, while Prof. Syed Awais discussed the historic perspective and his decades-long experience. Dr. Abbas Khokhar, Head of the Oncology Department, updated participants on new treatment options for bone tumors, and chemotherapy, and proposed a mechanism to prevent delays in patient treatment and follow-up.
The seminar was attended by teaching faculty and postgraduate residents from Mayo Hospital, as well as various other hospitals. Guest of honor, Dr. Munir Ahmed Malik, MS Mayo Hospital, distributed shields among the distinguished guests, and the event was concluded by Prof. Faisal Masood with a vote of thanks to all the respected guests and participants.
