Chief Minister Punjab Mr Mohsin Raza Naqvi visited Mayo Hospital and King Edward Medical University

Chief Minister Punjab Mr. Mohsin Raza Naqvi visited Mayo Hospital and King Edward Medical University today. Accompanying him were Minister SHC&ME Punjab, Prof. Javed Akram, Secretary P&SHD and SHC&ME Mr. Ali Jan Khan, Secretary C&W Mr. Sohail Ashraf and other representatives of Health department.
Prof. Mahmood Ayyaz, Vice Chancellor KEMU, Prof. Haroon Hamid CEO Mayo Hospital and Dr. Munir Ahmed Malik MS Mayo Hospital Lahore were present at the occasion.
Chief Minister had a three-and-a-half-hour-long detailed round of Mayo Hospital in extreme heat of month of June. He visited Emergency ward, OPD, Children block, AVH, East Medical ward, Surgical tower, ENT ward, Bilqees Sarwar ICU.
He was briefed by Prof. Mahmood Ayyaz, VC KEMU and Prof. Haroon Hamid, CEO MHL.
He also visited the ECG room, Dialysis unit, Cardiology ICU, Pharmacy, Indoor medical floor, Khidmat markaz and other departments of Mayo Hospital.
He spoke with the patients and attendants, while listening to their problems, he gave instructions to solve them at the spot. During his visit Chief minister also interacted with the representatives of YDA and listened carefully to their concerns.
While visiting Children’s Emergency, Chief Minister reviewed the entire process of patient’s visit from entry token through different sections. While announcing the name the Children’s Block as the Mayo Children’s Hospital, he desired to bring the quality of the hospital at par with the Aga Khan Hospital.
Chief Minister called for a plan for the improvement of the hospital within a week and issued special instructions to Vice Chancellor KEMU Prof. Mahmood Ayyaz. He also vowed to make Mayo Hospital a state-of-the-art hospital in 2 phases in 4 months.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Mahmood Ayyaz gave a detailed briefing to the Chief Minister and Health Minister in the Council Room of KEMU.
A decision in principle was taken to established Cardiac Block in the Hospital equipped with all modern facilities.
The emergency ward will also be converted into a modern emergency at the new location.
A ward of Mayo Hospital will be dedicated to the late Prof. Dr. Faisal Masood. (Ex-Vice Chancellor, KEMU) Chief Minister also ordered to immediately upgrade the reading rooms of KEMU and improve the standard of cafeteria. He also passed instructions to allow the students of KEMU to install air conditioners in the hostels with payment.
Among participants were Deans, CEO and Medical Superintendants of the 7 attached hospitals of KE University, Mayo Hospital, Lady Aitchison Hospital, Lady Wellington Hospital, Mian Munshi Hospital, Kot Khawaja Saeed Hospital and the concerned officials of the University and the Health department.
