Department of Medicine KEMU/Mayo Hospital Lahore organized a seminar on World Hepatitis Day on Thursday 3rd August 2023.
The Honorable Minister of SHC&MED was the Chief guest. Prof Dr. Javed Akram while addressing shared his experiences and vision of the Punjab Govt for hepatitis elimination.
Prof Dr. Mahmood Ayyaz, Vice Chancellor of KEMU, patron-in-Chief talked about KEMU’s role in hepatitis prevention, screening, diagnosis, and treatment. He pointed out that the only way we can be hepatitis free in 2030 is by prevention of transmission of this disease and the greatest responsibility lies with the medical profession.
Prof Ghias-un-Nabi Tayyab, Former Principal of PGMI/AMC/LGH, Past President of PSG was the Guest of Honor. He talked about hepatitis elimination from Pakistan.
Prof. M Haroon Hamid CEO & MS Mayo Hospital Lahore briefed about Pediatrics Hepatitis prevention and the Role of Mayo Hospital Lahore in hepatitis prevention and control.
Prof. Akif Dilshad Prof of Gastroenterology AMC/LGH Lahore talked about the management of Hepatitis B and Prof. Asif Gul Prof of Gastroenterology SIMS, Vice President PSG talked about the Prevention of viral Hepatitis. Prof Dr. Shandana Tariq and Prof. Israr ul Haque Toor were on the panel of experts. Dr Ahsan Farooq AP Gastroenterology KEMU moderatorated the session. Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ijaz Hussain, Prof Shahzad Shams, Dean KEMU, Prof. Muhammad Moin, Principal COAVS, Dr. Riasat Ali Registrar KEMU, Prof. Syed Asghar Naqi, Prof. Ameer Afzal, Prof. Yar Muhammad, Prof. Saima Ameer, Dr. Rabia Rathore, Dr. Nasir Farooq Butt, Dr. Bilal Aziz, Dr. Naeem Aslam, Dr. Bilal Rafique, Dr. Mimpal Singh, Dr. Fowad Karim, Dr. Zafar Niaz, Dr. Kamran Yousaf, Dr. Sami Ullah, Dr. Ali Asad Khan, Dr. Mohsin Masud & Dr. Arshad Khan were the eminent guests.
It was well attended by the other Faculty members, Residents, house officers, and allied health professionals. In the end, Prof Israr ul Haque Toor, HOD of North Medical Ward thanked the honorable guests and participants.
The seminar was followed by the Awareness Walk led by Honorable Minister.
