Dept of Orthopaedics KEMU/MHL, organized a hands-on workshop focused on the utilization of AI in Research

As part of an ongoing commitment to research and innovation, the *Department of Orthopaedics* KEMU / Mayo Hospital Lahore, under the supervision of *Prof. Dr. Faisal Masood,* organized a hands-on workshop focused on the utilization of Artificial Intelligence in Research.
The event, conducted under the leadership and patronage of Vice Chancellor *Prof. Dr. Mahmood Ayyaz,* aligns with his vision to elevate KEMU to new heights in research.
*Prof. Dr. Mahmood Ayyaz* Vice Chancellor King Edward Medical University graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, with *Prof. Dr. Haroon Hamid,* CEO of Mayo Hospital, and *Prof. Dr. Ahsan Nauman,* COO of Mayo Hospital, serving as Guests of Honor.
The workshop, titled *’Research Reinvented,’* aimed to empower researchers by providing practical insights into the latest cutting-edge AI tools, enabling them to leverage these advancements. The training was conducted by *Ms. Zainab Aqeel Khan,* an AI expert from Karachi.
*Prof. Mahmood Ayyaz,* during his address at the occasion, underscored the importance of the subject of utmost significance. In his insightful address, he emphasized the pivotal role of Artificial Intelligence in various aspects of life, particularly in the medical field. The pinnacle of the discourse was sharing his personal experience of using this latest modality in Robotic Surgery.
*Prof. Mahmood Ayyaz,* Vice Chancellor of King Edward Medical University, echoed the significance of embracing new technology to stay abreast with the world. During his talk he interacted with the participants and apprised them with the latest advancements especially an *‘AI Lab’* which has recently been established at KEMU. He commended the Department of Orthopaedics for their efforts in organizing various workshops and seminars on crucial topics.
*Prof. Haroon Hamid* underpinned the importance of the use of modern technology in research, recalling challenges encountered in research decades ago. He emphasized the crucial role of new tools in saving time and effort, advocating for their proper use.
*Prof. Ahsan Nauman,* COO Mayo Hospital, highlighted the significance of justified use of Artificial Intelligence in research and cautioned against potential misuse. He provided a comparative analysis of the power of the human brain in analysing data versus machines.
Among the notable attendees were distinguished faculty Prof. Imran Waheed, Prof. Muhammad Iqbal, Prof. Shandana Tariq, Prof. Muhammad Sharif, Prof. Saqib Sohail, Dr. Bushra Hussain, Dr. Zeeshan Sarwar, Dr. Saima Ilyas, Dr. Maria Imran, Dr. Rabia Arshad, Dr. Tehmina Maqbool, Dr. Sania Asif, Dr. Sarah Khan, Dr. Areiba Haider, Dr. Ahsan Farooq, Dr. Waqas Mehdi, Dr. Mumraiz Salik, Dr. Subhan Shahid, Dr. Ahmed Humayun, Dr. Shahid Chaudhry, Dr. Kashif Naseer, Dr. Suhail Niazi as well as a substantial number of consultants & post graduate residents from various departments.
