Departments of KEMU, support with the PAPANA organized the inauguration ceremony of Therapy Center

Departments of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, and Child and Family Psychiatry, KEMU/ Mayo Hospital, Lahore, in collaboration with the Pakistan American Psychiatric Association of North America (PAPANA), organized the inauguration ceremony of ‘Autism and Related Neurodevelopmental Disorders Therapy Center’ on 8th of November 2023.

This therapy center has been established in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, with the support of PAPANA, KEMCANA, CDRS & C-ARTS (Karachi).

The therapy center was inaugurated by the Chief Guest – Prof. Dr Mahmood Ayyaz, Vice Chancellor King Edward Medical University, Lahore. He appreciated the efforts made by the Department of Child and Family Psychiatry in the establishment of a therapy center for autism and related neurodevelopmental disorders.

The ceremony was also attended by Prof Dr. Afzal Javed, ex- president World Psychiatric Association (WPA) and a renowned psychiatrist, and Dr. Muhammad Zeeshan, President PAPANA. Prof Dr. M. Haroon Hamid, CEO Mayo Hospital, Ms. Irum Rizwan from Center for Autism Rehabilitation and Training, Sindh, Prof. Saira Afzal head of department of community Medicine, Dr. Asghar Naqi Syed, Registrar KEMU and Dr Aftab Asif, ex-Head of Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, were invited as special guests.

The therapy center is a first of its kind and aims to provide free and quality services in occupational, speech and behavior therapy to patients suffering from various neurodevelopmental disorders.
