Flag hoisting ceremony to mark Pakistan’s 76th Independence Day was organized by King Edward Medical University and Mayo Hospital.

Caretaker Punjab Health Minister Prof. Javed Akram was the Chief Guest of the event. Vice Chancellor Professor Mahmood Ayyaz and CEO. Prof Haroon Hamid welcomed Professor Javed Akram and other distinguished guests. FJMU Vice Chancellor Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal, Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ijaz Hussain, Registrar Dr. Riasat Ali, Deans, Faculty members, Nurses, and a large number of students were present at this occasion.

The caretaker provincial health minister, Dr. Javed Akram, expressed his views and said that the Freedom is a great blessing of Allah Almighty and we got Pakistan when millions of people sacrificed their lives and we must value this great sacrifice . We have to make Pakistan greater as it was dreamed by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. He said that the blood of our elders is included in the foundations of Pakistan. May Allah allow us to serve Pakistan in a real sense.
We are all one under the flag of Pakistan and will remain one. Today we pay tribute to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and the poet of Pakistan Allama M Iqbal.
I am what I am today is because of this great medical school, King Edward.

I am proud that it is being lead by one of my most brilliant student who is instilling a new life in academics , research and traditions of this great Institution and he is a very strong Leader . Vice Chancellor King Edward Medical University Professor Mahmood Ayyaz said On behalf of the Faculty and Management of King Edward Medical University, wished a Happy 76th Independence Day to the nation of Pakistan. He said that during the pakistan movement and subsequent migration about 3 million Muslims were martyred. This very day reminds us of the sacrifices of the martyrs and also teaches us to be grateful for this great blessing. He further said that Professor Javed Akram is a KEMCOLIAN and we are proud of it. We have to fulfill the dream of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and the poet of the East Allama Iqbal by serving Pakistan in the true sense.

Professor Khalid Masood Gondal said that we have to remember the sacrifices of our elders. On the occasion of today, my many prayers for Prof. Mahmood Ayyaz and all the students and faculty. Professor Muhammad Haroon Hamid said that Mayo Hospital is and will remain a part of King Edward Medical University. We Will continue to work together under the leadership of Professor Mahmood Ayyaz. He said Treatment of patients is impossible without the support of nursing and paramedics. He further said that let us all commit together to take Mayo Hospital and King Edward further and bring glory to the country.

On this occasion, the students presented live songs and speeches in the best manner. Pakistan flags were hoisted at King Edward Medical University and Mayo Hospital Lahore. At the end of the event, Prof. Javed Akram along with Vice Chancellor Prof. Mahmood Ayyaz, Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal, Prof. Haroon Hamid, Prof. Muhammad Moin, and others cut the Independence Day cake and gave commemorative shields.
