Provincial Health Minister Prof. Javed Akram Announced the Establishment of a Novel Research Center at KEMU

Caretaker Provincial Health Minister Prof. Javed Akram announced the Establishment of a novel research center at King Edward Medical University. An important meeting convened at King Edward Medical University, led by Prof. Javed Akram, the Caretaker Provincial Health Minister.

In the meeting, Dr. Shehla Javed Akram, Vice Chancellor King Edward Medical University Prof. Dr. Mahmood Ayyaz, Deans, Prof. Asghar Naqi, Prof. Shahzad Shams, Prof. Saira Afzal, Registrar Dr. Riasat Ali, Prof. Asma, Dr. Ghazala Butt, Dr. Fawad Karim, Dr. Sadia Rafiq, Dr. Uzma Malik, Prof Nakhshab Chaudhry, Dr Nighat Yasmeenand other faculty members participated.

The primary agenda of the meeting was an in-depth review of plans for the establishment of the new King Edward Research Center. In this context, Prof. Saira Afzal and Dr. Sadia Rafiq presented the insights to Prof. Javed Akram, the caretaker provincial health minister.
Prof. Javed Akram, undertook a comprehensive tour of various facilities during the event. This included visits to the souvenir shop, the existing research center, an under-construction cafeteria, the library, the student facilitation center, and other departments.

Prof. Javed Akram, shared his perspectives during the event and commended the contributions of Prof. Mahmood Ayyaz, the Vice Chancellor of King Edward Medical University. The primary objective behind establishing a medical school is to drive advanced research aimed at safeguarding society from perilous diseases. The initiation of the King Edward Research Center within the historic premises of King Edward Medical University is a commendable endeavor that deserves recognition. The faculty at King Edward put forth ingenious ideas for research, particularly focusing on ensuring clean drinking water and enhancing the well-being of children below the age of five.

In his address, Prof. Javed Akram recognized the outstanding efforts of the faculty and students at King Edward Medical University in the realm of research, which lies at the core of a medical institution’s mission. He emphasized the integral role of clinical trials in any research undertaking. Notably, innovations stemming from King Edward Medical University’s pioneering research will be subject to licensing. He also proposed the necessity of conducting medical screenings for Anarkali Bazaar’s traders.

Furthermore, the Health Minister extended his directives to other medical institutions in Punjab, urging them to prioritize contemporary research initiatives. Prof. Mahmood Ayyaz, Vice Chancellor of King Edward Medical University, also shared his insights. He assured that the university is wholeheartedly embracing the health minister’s vision by devoting special attention to cutting-edge research. In the current era, medical research holds paramount significance in safeguarding future generations from hazardous diseases.

He highlighted the consistent achievements of King Edward’s students in the field of research. He added that the university is dedicated to revolutionizing and enhancing the provision of fundamental healthcare services to the inhabitants of inner Lahore through innovation.
