KEMU Organized Seminar on The Latest Trends in Dengue & Role of Vaccination and Conjunctivitis (Pink Eye)

King Edward Medical University Lahore organized an Awareness Seminar on “The Latest Trends in Dengue & Role of Vaccination” and “Conjunctivitis (Pink Eye); The Current Situation Analysis & Preventive Measures Especially for School Kids” in collaboration with Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department, Pakistan Society of Internal Medicine, UNICEF and Mir Khalil ur Rehman Memorial Society (Jang Group of Newspapers) on 4th Oct, in Jinnah Auditorium, KEMU.

Honourable Minister of Health Prof. Javed Akram was the Chief Guest of the event. Vice Chancellor KEMU, Prof Dr. Mahmood Ayyaz welcomed all the participants and talked about the importance of holding awareness activities for ongoing infections in the country at the moment to sensitize the healthcare community and the public at large. Prof Muhammad Moin Chairperson Department of Ophthalmology gave a detailed overview of Pink eye and precautions and treatment to deal with it.

Dr. Somia Iqtadar Associate Professor of Medicine and Secretary General Pakistan Society of Internal Medicine and Dengue Expert Advisory Group delivered a talk about the latest trends and global updates and the Role of Vaccination in Dengue fever. Audience was also addressed by Dr Yahya Gulzar from WHO, Prof. Imran Hasan Khan Principal Sahiwal Medical College Dr. Ilyas Gondal DGHS, Raees Ansari from Geo group, Dr Qurat bulain from Uniicef, and Dr. Mukhtar from EPI Punjab.

Many distinguished guests from the Department of Health, PITP, Unicef, WHO, the Faculty of KEMU, doctors nurses students, and media personnel attended the seminar. While addressing the audience Prof. Javed Akram highlighted the importance of behavioral change and following Good practice guidelines to manage these communicable diseases.

The seminar was moderated by renowned journalist Wasif Nagi who appreciated the contribution of Prof Faisal Masud (late) in setting up Dengue protocols and uplifting KEMU.In the end, Dr. Yadullah Direct CDC proposed a vote of thanks. The session concluded with positive feedback from the audience, a presentation of the memorial shield to the chief guest and a group photo.
