MOU has been established between KEMU / Mayo Hospital & The Punjab Police.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has been established between KING EDWARD MEDICAL UNIVERSITY / MAYO HOSPITAL, LAHORE, and THE PUNJAB POLICE.

The MOU was officially signed today at the Office of IG Police and involved key signatories, Prof. Dr. Mahmood Ayyaz, the Vice Chancellor of King Edward Medical University; Prof.M Haroon Hamid, the Chief Executive Officer & Medical Superintendent of Mayo Hospital, Lahore; and Dr. Usman Anwar,(KEMCOLIAN) the Inspector General of Punjab Police.

This MOU outlines the collaboration between KEMU / Mayo Hospital, Lahore, and the Punjab Police to set up a dedicated Help Desk. The purpose of this desk is to provide medical facilities to the families of Punjab Police Shuhada (martyrs) through a convenient one-window operation, allowing for the expression of gratitude. This Help Desk will deliver medical treatment and services to the families of Shuhada in a prompt and high-quality manner. In case of any medical emergency or need, the families or patients of Shuhada will report to this desk, and the front desk staff will ensure that they are directed to the relevant ward or consultant as part of an efficient one-window service.

Both Mayo Hospital and the Welfare Branch of the Central Police Office will appoint dedicated focal persons to enhance coordination and streamline services. Punjab Police will provide a referral or unique card for the identification of entitled patients.

During the signing of this MOU, Prof. Dr. Mahmood Ayyaz, the Vice-Chancellor of KEMU, highlighted the support that has already been extended to police employees at the Police Welfare Hospital Qila Gujjar Singh, which was recently affiliated with King Edward Medical University. According to the terms of the MOU, all necessary facilities will be prioritized for the families of Shuhada at Mayo Hospital in the future. This includes the provision of comprehensive emergency and elective healthcare services to the families of police officials who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

In response, IG Police Dr. Usman Anwar(KEMCOLIAN) expressed his gratitude to the VC of KEMU and the CEO of Mayo Hospital for making these services available, emphasizing the value of such support.
