Provincial Health Ministers Inaugurated Seven New and Modern Operation Theaters at MHL/KEMU

Provincial Health Ministers Khawaja Salman Rafique and Khawaja Imran Nazir inaugurated seven new and modern operation theatres at Mayo Hospital Lahore, coinciding with the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. The event was graced by the presence of distinguished individuals, including Vice Chancellor King Edward Medical University Prof. Dr. Mahmood Ayyaz, Chief Operating Officer Mayo Hospital Prof. Dr. Faisal Masood, and Prof. Dr. Yar Muhammad. During their visit, the ministers also toured the children’s ward of Mayo Hospital, where they interacted with the young patients.

Minister for Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Mr. Khawaja Salman Rafique extended heartfelt Eid-ul-Fitr greetings to the entire nation. He commended the tireless efforts of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mahmood Ayaz and his team. Notably, he attributed the establishment of the new, state-of-the-art operation theatres in the A&E Department of Mayo Hospital to the vision of the Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. He highlighted the collaborative efforts of public representatives and hospital employees during this festive season.

Minister for Primary & Secondary Healthcare Mr. Khawaja Imran Nazir echoed these sentiments, describing the operation theatres as akin to those found in top Western hospitals. He expressed optimism that the upgraded facilities at Mayo Hospital would significantly boost efficiency and benefit the wider public. He emphasized the ongoing commitment to enhance government hospitals’ infrastructure across the province.

Prof. Dr. Mahmood Ayaz, Vice Chancellor of King Edward Medical University, expressed gratitude to the Government of Punjab for their support in enhancing and elevating the largest emergency department in Asia. He provided insights and meticulously outlined the cutting-edge features of the newly established operation theatres.
The successful completion of such projects was a collaborative endeavor, and Prof. Ayyaz expressed his profound appreciation to all the dedicated affiliates who worked tirelessly to bring this vision to fruition. Notably, Secretary C&W Lt. (R) Sohail Ashraf played a pivotal role in overseeing the revamping projects at Mayo Hospital, ensuring their timely execution.

Acknowledging the immense challenges faced during this transformative journey, Prof. Ayyaz specifically highlighted the unwavering dedication and seamless teamwork of three distinguished colleagues: Prof. Haroon Hamid, Prof. Ahsan Nauman and Prof. Faisal Masood. Their relentless pursuit of excellence left no stone unturned, and their collective efforts were instrumental in achieving these remarkable milestones.
