Sikh Community Delegation Visits King Edward Medical University

Press Release: “Sikh community delegation visits King Edward Medical University.” Sikh community delegation visited the King Edward Medical University on June 1, 2023. The purpose of the visit was to acknowledge the Sikh community’s historical love for King Edward Medical University and Patiala Block and to show solidarity with the Sikh community. Caretaker Health Minister Punjab Prof. Javed Akram graced the occasion as chief guest while Vice Chancellor King Edward Medical University Prof. Mahmood Ayyaz warmly welcomed the guests. Among the esteemed guests were Sardar Ameer Singh,Dr. Mimpal Singh, Sardar Terbidi Singh, Sardar Kalyan Singh, Gyani Dia Singh, Gyani Ranjit Singh, Mahendr Pal Singh, Satwant Kaur, Mehek Deep Kaur, Gyani Prim Singh, Dr.Aymanjit Kaur, Amreek Singh, Santokh Singh, and others. From the King Edward Medical University, Pro-Vice Chancellor King Edward Medical University Prof. Ijaz Hussain, Registrar Dr. Riasat Ali, Prof. Haroon Hamid, Prof. Iftikhar Ijaz, Prof. Zohra Khanum, MS Mayo Hospital Dr. Munir Ahmad Malik, Deans and other faculty members participated. Editor Jang Group Wasif Nagi was also present on the occasion. While addressing the participants, the Vice-Chancellor of King Edward Medical University Professor Dr. Mahmood Ayyaz expressed that the visit of the Sikh community to King Edward Medical University, today as a matter of pride. Maharaja Bhupinder Singh built the Patiala block of King Edward Medical College which will live on in history. He further said that we shall put in continuous efforts in the restoration of all the buildings of King Edward Medical University to their original condition. He also expressed that work is already underway, in phases, to achieve this goal. He reiterated that King Edward Medical University provides education and training without any discrimination, sex color, caste, creed, religion or nationality. He also appreciated Dr. Mimpal Singh’s immense services to King Edward, Mayo Hospital, and the ailing humanity. Caretaker Provincial Health Minister Dr. Javed Akram, in his address, said that he was very happy to meet the Sikh community. He said that humanity does not belong to any religion, Allah Ta’ala has created humans with different identities to test them. We are proud to be the Ummah of Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa. Pakistan was established based on La ilaha illa Allah and Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa (PBUH) is a role model for all Muslims. Complimenting the services of the Sikh doctors, he said that the patients who are treated by the Sikh doctors also appreciate the services of these doctors. Assistant Professor, King Edward Medical University, Dr. Mimpal Singh, while expressing his views, said that I am extremely proud to be a faculty member of the university. The real identity of any institution is its history and heritage, and this heritage is well preserved by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Mahmood Ayyaz. While expressing gratitude for his current position, he said that he was grateful to everyone and especially the Vice-Chancellor Professor Mahmood Ayyaz. Sardar Terbidi Singh, who came from the UK, said that the Vice-Chancellor revived the history of the Sikh nation, for which they are extremely grateful. President of Pakistan Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee Sardar Amir Singh said that in all religions, including Islam, service to man and humanity is taught. He said that the Sikh nation will take the lead for whatever services are provided for the construction and development of King Edward Medical University. Editor Jang Group Mr. Wasif Nagi who is a great historian of lahore and Punjabi culture and language was invited as a very special guest said that by inviting the Sikh community to King Edward Medical University, Prof. Mahmood Ayyaz has written a page in the history of lahore , . He also added that Maharaja Bhupinder Singh had an important role in the construction of historical buildings in the city of Lahore. At the end of the ceremony, the Sikh community was awarded commemorative shields by Prof. Javed Akram Vice Chancellor Prof. Mahmood Ayyaz as a token of respect and their visit, the Sikh delegation presented, historical souvenirs and book.
