The Department of Neurosurgery , Organised a Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare at KEMU

The Neurosurgery Department of KEMU, under the leadership of Professor Dr. Shahzad Shams Dean of Surgery, held a conference on Artificial Intelligence in healthcare at Maqbool Ahmad Block, KEMU.

The audience was briefed regarding the benefits of Artificial Intelligence especially in the surgical field from diagnosing to planning difficult surgeries and improving the safety and outcomes for the patients. The highlight is the one-of-a-kind software developed by Dr. Tahreem Fatima fulfilling the vision of the head of the department Professor Dr. Shahzad Shams that detects brain tumors by using Deep Learning Algorithms using Convolution Neural Network (CNN), a technique using Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI)consistently showing higher accuracy. This system already has collaboration with CNN, Keras, and TensorFlow to help brain imaging, detection, and classification.

Moreover, Vice Chancellor King Edward Medical University Lahore Professor Dr. Mahmood Ayyaz also honored the event with his presence and amazing display of his expertise in the field of robotic surgery. Followed by an insightful talk on the role of Artificial Intelligence in healthcare by Dr Sakina M Joiya, a renowned medical educationist and AI Functional Consultant.

Thanks to the efforts of Professor Dr. Shahzad Shams, the audience was enlightened with the futuristic approaches that provide safety and precision to the surgeon and ultimately benefit the patients.
