Today marked the auspicious inauguration of the newly renovated Paediatric Surgery Emergency block, a visionary project spearheaded by Friends of Mayo Hospital and generously funded by the Son of Miss Ambreen Irfan and Mian Ahmed Irfan in honor of their esteemed parents. Completed within an impressive timeframe of just five months and at a cost of 50 million rupees, the ceremony was graced by the esteemed presence of Prof. Mahmood Ayyaz, the Vice Chancellor of KEMU, alongside distinguished members of Friends of Mayo including Miss Fatima Fazal, Dr. Muhammad Adil (AMS), Dr. Salman Kazmi, and other esteemed faculty members.

The expanded emergency block now stands equipped with 23 beds and essential facilities such as a triage area, minor operating theater, reception, ultrasound, X-ray services, duty doctor and nurse offices, and a pharmacy, with a special focus on a dedicated space for burn care. The design of the building has been meticulously crafted to prioritize centralized supplies such as air compressors and oxygen, while ensuring abundant lighting, security through surveillance cameras, and seamless internet connectivity.

During the ceremony, Prof. Sharif and the Paediatric Surgery faculty provided a comprehensive briefing to VC KEMU, expressing profound gratitude to the generous donors whose unwavering support has brought this transformative project to fruition, thereby enhancing the capacity to deliver exceptional care to the community.
