Two Days Workshop on Labour Care Guide in Collaboration with World Health Organization (WHO)

A two days workshop on Labour Care Guide in collaboration with World Health Organization (WHO),King Edward Medical University, Health department Govt of Punjab Pakistan, Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Pakistan(SOGP) was held in conference room of Lady Aitchison hospital Lahore on 29-08-2023 and 30-08-2023 under chairmanship of Prof.Meher-Un-Nisa Head of Gynae/obs department Unit IV .Vice Chancellor Prof.Dr.Mahmood Ayyaz was patron-in-chief.

Chief guest was Dr.Arshad Chohan, Prof.Dr.Ameer Afzal was guest of honour. Co facilitators were Dr.shaila Anwar and Prof.Nadia Khurshid HOD unit V. The workshop introduced the use of Labour Care Guide designed by World Health Organisation in 2018.Prof.Meher un Nisa,Dr.Shaila Anwar and Prof.Nadia Khurshid described in detail all sections of Labour care Guide.The purpose is to equip skilled birth attendants(doctors and widwives) with knowledge and necessary skills to effectively manage intrapartum care of mothers and newborns through Labour care guide using examples and real scenarios to reduce preventable maternal and newborn mortality and morbidity through shared decisions.

Workshop was based on participatory methodology to engage trainees. Medical Superintendent Prof.Ameer Afzal appreciated efforts of Prof.Meher in Nisa and team for arranging useful academic activity as part of continuous learning. Prof.Arshad Chohan appreciated introduction of revolutionary LCG and emphasized on its regular use.29 participants were registered who enthusiastically attended and found it very beneficial. Workshop was concluded with word of thanks, distribution of shields and certificates.
