World Alzheimer’s Day was Celebrated by the Neurology Department of King Edward Medical University

World Alzheimer’s Day was celebrated by the neurology department on 28th September 2023.

This day is celebrated to create awareness about dementia diagnosis & its management and to reduce the social stigma associated with dementia. The theme of this year’s Alzheimer’s Day is ‘Never too early and never too late’. The Chief Guest was respected Vice C Chancellor KEMU, Prof. Mahood Ayyaz. Prof Ahsan Numan mentioned the history of the KEMU Neurology department and announced a clinic for dementia caregivers.

The Vice-Chancellor. KEMU Prof. Mahmood Ayyaz, in his address, Appreciated Prof Ahsan Nauman for his efforts in establishing the clinics for caregivers for dementia and laid great emphasis on the importance of early diagnosis of dementia and related issues. He spoke very passionately about providing relief and care to the elderly and told students to be very respectful and caring towards the elder members of the society specially their parents , Panelists Prof Shahzad Shamsh, and Prof. Muhammad Imran also talked about dementia treatment.

Speakers Prof. Muhammad Athar Javaid, Prof. Mohsin Zaheer, Dr. Muhammad Nasrallah, Dr. Faheemm, and Dr.Arslan Haider delivered talks on various aspects of Alzheimer’s disease. The event was attended by Prof. Saira Afzal, Prof. Adil Iqbal, Prof. Muhammad Anees, and many other faculty members from various departments.
