A Pre Conference Workshop on “ Maternal Collapse and Hands on training of BLS,CPR and Perimortem C section “was arranged by Gynae and Obs Department Unit IV Lady Aitchison Hospital under chairmanship of Prof.Dr Meher Un Nisa in the Skills lab,Jinnah Auditorium of King Edward Medical University,Lahore on Saturday I.e. 25-01-2025.
The VC KEMU Prof.Mahmood Ayyaz was the patern in-chief.Workshop was conducted under his kind supervision.
The Chief Organizer Professor Dr.Meher-un-Nisa ,Head of Department Unit IV LAH gave welcome speech and overviewed the agenda of Hands on workshop and emphasised on the importance of communication,team work and calling for help as an attempt to take prompt action for maternal collapse .
Dr Samina Gardezi,Consultant Obstetrician and gynaecologist at Unit IV LAH gave a presentation on “Understanding of Maternal collapse and Perimortem C section”
The “Master Training of Maternal Collapse and CPR “was carried out by Dr Hafiz M Sajid ,AP Emergency department Mayo Hospital Lahore.He enlightened the house with the grave stats of 4-5 maternal collapses/1000 live births and the survival rate of <1 % in case of delayed resuscitation (9-12 minutes ) and commended the efforts of Professor Dr Meher Un Nisa for giving an opportunity to the house for participating in the Noble cause of saving more mothers.
The participants were divided into groups for hands on practice under leadership and supervision of Consultants Dr. Aleena Sarwar, Dr. Saleha, Dr. Hina Zafar and Dr. Munazza .
Around 50 Participants from Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Lady Aitchison and Lady Willingdon as well as from Mayo Hospital Lahore KEMU took great interest and found the workshop very informative and helpful.
Prof. Dr Muhammad Moin, Pro Vice Chancellor of King Edward Medical University graced the house with his presence and highlighted the importance of conducting such life saving skills based workshop.
Prof. Yar Muhammad, Director Emergency Department MHL, was the Guest of honour of the workshop who admired the academic initiatives taken by Prof.Dr Meher Un Nisa .
Feedback was taken from candidates who found it was helpful. Workshop was concluded with distribution of shields and certificates to facilitators, organisers, guests and participants.
