Hands on workshop on acute management of obstetric anal sphincter injuries was organized by gynae/obs department Unit V, Lady Aitchison Hospital on 5th June 2023 under the Chairmanship of Professor Dr Nadia Khurshid in skill labs Lady Aitchison Hospital. Departmental reading room was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor KEMU Prof.Dr. Mahmood Ayyaz.
Prof Dr Mahmood Ayyaz was patron in chief. Dr M Arshad Chohan was guest speaker. He taught participants about repair techniques and post op care. Chairperson Department of OBG KEMU Prof. Zohra Khanum was patron. Medical Superintendent Dr. Munir Ahmed guest of honour. Dr Nargis Iqbal was guest speaker, she guided participants about management of subsequent pregnancy. Dr Sadia Mahmood from radiology department discussed the role of TPUS.
Workshop covered each and every aspect of topic through interactive and hands on stations. More than 30 candidates from different hospitals participated.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Mahmood Ayyaz appreciated the team efforts for organizing such a useful workshop that will help residents to improve their clinical skills. The Vice Chancellor interacted with the trainees, he taught fundamental anatomy of perineal muscles and various repair techniques.
Prof. Zohra Khanum addressed and guided candidates about how to diagnose and repair perineal tear. Prof. Dr Nadia Khurshid briefed participants and guide participants about perineal anatomy and repair techniques. Medical Superintendent Dr. Munir Ahmed praised efforts of unit V for arranging such useful clinical activity. Hands on workshop on animal models was organized in skills lab of unit V.
Feedback was taken from postgraduate residents who found this workshop very useful, they learned how to identify and repair perineal tear on animal models. Session was concluded with distribution of shields and certificates.
