West Medical Ward (Sialkot Ward) proudly shares a long history of healthcare and medical education with its parent institutes Mayo Hospital and King Edward Medical University (KEMU) Lahore. Established in 1863 Mayo Hospital Lahore was one of the oldest Medical institutes of Northern India. The unit has been enrouted by legendary physicians over past 150 years. This glorious center for medicine had trained thousands of physicians who have served humanity all over the globe. It has not only trained physicians but also treated thousands of patients referred from all over Punjab.
• We aim to provide quality disciplined and visionary training to Medical undergraduates of KEMU (MBBS), 4 years Master in Medicine (MD) of KEMU 2 years diploma in family medicine (DFM) of KEMU & Fellows in Medicine (FCPS) for CPSP. (Our faculty also teaches subject of Medicine to students Doctor of Physiotherapy program of KEMU and dentistry program of de’Montmorency College of Dentistry Lahore, Lahore).
• To provide best available patient care through a dedicated teamwork of house physicians, residents and consultants.

Teaching faculty comprises of well-trained medical educationists with vast experience of teaching. There is well-designed training programs both for undergraduates and postgraduates. It includes weekly Journal Club and Clinico-Pathological Conference. This is compulsory a routine and is followed by all the teaching staff, PGRs and house staff. This mandatory activity full fills not only training requirements but keep us reviewed and updated.
A Mortality Meetings fortnightly also provide a good Feedback to guide us in improving our skills and services in terms of Patient-care. Strict schedule regarding OSCE and SEQ tests for both FCPS and MD Trainees, Mock Exams twice every year for both FCPS and MD Trainees is followed. In order to groom our final year residents there is a Rota for house physician classes and they are also asked to manage weekly clinical methods tests of undergraduates under supervision of SRs.
Monthly best PGR and House physician are decided not only by compiling academics it also includes there assessment of interaction with seniors, colleagues, junior and nursing staff. There is a separate reading room of our ward as well as digital library for study and research purpose with free Wi-Fi facility.
We don’t forget to relieve our doctors from there hectic routine of rounds and classes, we have a Non Academic day every two months along with frequent get-togethers in ward as well as outside ward. Twice a year we manage some sports event between doctors of male and female ward.

Sialkot Ward (west medical ward) is a 58 bedded medical unit including 4 bedded High Dependency Unit (HDU) equipped with latest lifesaving equipment. There are two out-patient clinics per week and 36 hours emergency on call per week. There is a 1 in 4 Rota of special Sunday emergency. We have facilities of upper GI endoscopy, colonoscopy. To facilitate cardiac patients admitted through emergency, there is echocardiography facility in our ward. We also have facility of pulmonary function test for indoor patients. There is Biometric System of attendance in the ward.
