6th International Vision Sciences Conference Held Successfully at King Edward Medical University
The 6th International Vision Sciences Conference was successfully organized by the College of Ophthalmology and Allied Vision Sciences (COAVS), King Edward Medical University (KEMU), in collaboration with the Society of Optometrists, Orthoptists, and Ophthalmic Technologists (SOOP).
The distinguished event was honored by the esteemed presence of Vice Chancellor Prof. Mahmood Ayyaz, serving as the Guest of Honor, alongside Prof. Khalil Rana, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
The conference was attended by eminent faculty members from KEMU and COAVS, including:
Prof. Asghar Naqi (Registrar, KEMU), Prof. Muhammad Moin (Pro Vice Chancellor & Principal COAVS), Prof. Nasir Chaudhary, Prof. Asad Aslam Khan (Professor Emeritus, COAVS), Prof. Javed Chaudhry, Dr. Ain ul Momina, Prof. Fathana Sajjad, Prof. Sohail Sarwar, Prof. Nazir Ahmed, Dr. Summan, and Ms. Ayesha Saleem (President, SOOP), along with enthusiastic participation from students of COAVS and KEMU.
In his keynote address, Vice Chancellor Prof. Mahmood Ayyaz stated:
“COAVS is the largest eye care facility in South Asia. Students must serve humanity through the platform of SOOP and their expertise in vision sciences.”
He emphasized the importance of multidisciplinary approaches in eye care, and stressed the need for research and innovation in the field.
Prof. Muhammad Moin highlighted COAVS’ outreach programs, quality eye care services, professional training, and co-curricular activities.
Prof. Asad Aslam Khan elaborated on the significance of optometry and ophthalmic technologies, underlining the need for the prevention of eye diseases.
Ms. Ayesha Saleem, President of SOOP, presented an honorary shield to the Vice Chancellor and expressed her gratitude on behalf of the organization.
The ceremony concluded with Dr. Ajmal Chaudhry extending heartfelt thanks to all distinguished guests and participants.
