King Edward Medical University (KEMU) hosted a workshop on Leadership in collaboration with the National Health Service (NHS) UK and KEMCA-UK for the first time in 164 years history of King Edward Medical University. The workshop was aimed at enhancing leadership skills among healthcare professionals, particularly those in key decision-making roles within the medical field.
Prof Mahmood Ayyaz welcomed the delegates from abroad as well as from Pakistan. Dr Taimur Shafi was the facilitator of the LEEP trainings
The workshop brought together a diverse group of participants, including faculty members, senior clinicians, students and administrators from KEMU, as well as healthcare leader certified from the NHS for the training. The agenda focused on various aspects of leadership, including effective communication, strategic decision-making, and the importance of emotional intelligence in leadership roles.
Dr Taimur Shafi from the NHS shared his experiences and insights into the challenges and opportunities of leading within a complex healthcare environment. He emphasized the importance of adaptive leadership and resilience in navigating the ever-evolving healthcare landscape.
Interactive sessions allowed participants to engage in discussions, case studies, and role-playing exercises designed to simulate real-world leadership scenarios. These activities provided attendees with practical tools and strategies to apply in their own professional settings.
The workshop was well-received, with participants appreciating the blend of theoretical knowledge and practical application. It marked a significant step in fostering stronger ties between KEMU and NHS UK, paving the way for future collaborations in training and development.
In the end, the chief organizer Prof Saira Afzal presented vote of thanks. The workshop underscored the critical role of leadership in advancing healthcare excellence and highlighted the shared commitment of KEMU, KEMCA-UK and NHS UK to nurture the next generation of healthcare leaders.
