Provincial Minister of Health Khawaja Salman Rafique recently met with a Turkish delegation at King Edward Medical University to explore opportunities for cooperation in the medical sector. The meeting marked a significant step towards strengthening ties between Pakistan and Turkey in healthcare sector.

The Turkish delegation, comprising Dr. Egnin Yeniz and Dr. Fateh Bonol, discussed potential collaborations with Pakistani officials, including Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mahmood Ayyaz, Registrar KEMU, Prof. M Imran, focal person Dr. Zahid Pervez, Key areas of discussion included:

Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer Treatment and Research
A major focus of the meeting was the Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer Treatment and Research, currently under construction in Lahore. The Minister announced that the institute would commence its OPD services this year, providing comprehensive cancer care facilities under one roof.
Strengthening Bilateral Ties
Khawaja Salman Rafique praised Turkey’s healthcare system and expressed his desire for collaboration. The Turkish medical experts reciprocated by expressing their willingness to collaborate with Pakistan in cancer treatment and research. The meeting concluded with a commitment to provide training for Pakistani doctors, nurses, and paramedics.
