Workshop Highlights:
Pioneering Curriculum Redesign for Sustainable Education through AI
The Department of Community Medicine at King Edward Medical University, Lahore, recently held an impactful workshop titled “Curriculum Redesign for Sustainability: Harnessing Artificial Intelligence to Align Outcome-Based Education with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”. This remarkable event was spearheaded by Prof. Saira Afzal, Dean of Public Health and Preventive Medicine and Director Quality Enhancement Cell and Foreign Affairs.
Hosted in the School of Artificial Intelligence at KEMU, the workshop gathered esteemed faculty, including Prof. Mahmood Ayyaz, Vice Chancellor of KEMU, who captivated the audience with his talk on the evolution of the world from big bang to present and the transformative impact of AI on the future. Participants from various institutions, such as the Continental Medical College, Postgraduate Medical Institute, and UET Lahore, attended alongside notable KEMU leaders, including Prof. Muhammad Moeen, Pro VC, and Prof. Iftikhar Ijaz of Pediatrics, prof Nadia Kursheed of Gynae and Obs.
Highlights:
Prof. Saira Afzal’s Session: She captivated the audience with insights into AI tools in scientific research, showcasing AI-powered visualization tools, journal finders, and paper enhancement tools that elevate research skills, replacing traditional methods with innovative solutions.
Prof. Ali Hammad Akbar” (Dept of computer engineering, UET Lahore):Delivered a thought-provoking talk on “Medical Hallucinations in AI”, exploring how to identify, classify, and mitigate risks of AI-driven misdiagnoses in medicine.
Dr. Shehzad Saleem: Engaged attendees in a hands-on AI-powered PowerPoint session, where participants experienced the ease of creating high-quality presentations in seconds. The audience created four standout presentations on:
1. Professionalism in Medical Graduate Curriculum (Awarded First Prize)
2. Leadership in Medical Graduate Curriculum in Pakistan
3. Stress Management in Undergraduate Medical Students
4. Communication Skills in Healthcare
