The 3rd International Emergency Medicine Conference 2024, organized under the cHALO banner, was held at King Edward Medical University, showcasing global collaboration and advancements in emergency medicine. This landmark three-day event from 31 Oct to 2 Nov was spearheaded by the Accident & Emergency Department KEMU with Prof. Mahmood Ayyaz serving as the Patron-in-Chief.
It has drawn more than 20 esteemed international delegates from six countries, as well as distinguished national faculty members, underscoring the conference’s global and national reach.
This event represents a collaborative effort between King Edward Medical University, the Pakistan Society of Internal Medicine, the Pakistan Society of Emergency Medicine, the Society of Surgeons Pakistan (Lahore Chapter), and the College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan.
On the inaugural day, four specialized pre-conference workshops were held, each focusing on essential areas within emergency medicine. The workshops, inaugurated by Vice Chancellor Prof. Mahmood Ayyaz, attracted around 200 participants and 40 expert faculty members, marking an impressive start to the event.
The main conference officially opened with a grand ceremony at the Maqbool block, setting a tone of academic rigor and professional exchange. It was attended by international dignitaries.
A delegation from Royal College of Edinburgh was among esteemed guests lead by Prof. Andrew Elder, Mrs. Ann Elder, Dr. Conor Maguire, Dr. Susan Pound, Dr. Kerri Baker, Dr. Michael Hallisey, Dr. S M M Niyas, Mrs. Niyas.

These agreements symbolize a mutual commitment to advancing emergency medicine and healthcare, fostering strategic partnerships that will enhance knowledge exchange, training opportunities, and resource sharing for the betterment of healthcare systems and patient care standards in the region.
The concluding ceremony of the 3rd International Emergency Medicine Conference 2024 welcomed Punjab’s Minister for Health, Khawaja Salman Rafique, as a distinguished guest. In his address, the Minister praised the exceptional efforts of the organizers, as well as the commitment and enthusiasm displayed by participants, for making this event a benchmark in advancing emergency medicine on a national level.
Honorable Minister Rafique also joined the expert panel discussion, contributing valuable insights on the critical role of emergency care in Pakistan’s healthcare landscape. He assured attendees of the government’s strong commitment to enhancing emergency care infrastructure across Punjab, pledging the necessary support and resources to drive improvements and elevate the standard of care provided in emergency departments. His participation underscored the government’s dedication to supporting initiatives that aim to strengthen healthcare systems and deliver optimal outcomes for communities across the province.
