Lahore, December 16, 2024 – The 44th International Conference at King Edward Medical University (KEMU) featured a groundbreaking , Scientific Symposium on Diagnostics in Public Health, which brought together leading global experts in pathology and diagnostics. The event, held at the historic KEMU campus, highlighted advancements in diagnostic techniques and their critical role in shaping public health policy and practice. It was organised by Prof Dr Faiza Bashir, Dr Mizna Arif coordinated and moderated the session along with Dr Rimaha.
Prof Dr Mahmood Ayyaz VC king Edward medical university Lahore, renowned surgeon and worldclass academician was guest of honour, who despite his busy schedule graced the occasion and addressed the participants emphasizing role of Public private collaborative efforts to upgrade diagnostics in Public sector.
The symposium was chaired by three luminaries in the field of pathology:
Prof. Dr. Sohail Chughtai, a living legend of pathology renowned for his unparalleled contributions to medical education, research and Pathology diagnostics
Prof. Dr. Faiza Bashir, Chairperson of the Pathology Department at KEMU, known for her leadership and innovation in Pathology education and diagnostic Pathology.
Prof. Dr. Abbas Khokhar, a distinguished academic with extensive expertise in Oncology and diagnostics for public health.
The symposium featured insightful talks by a stellar lineup of notable speakers:
Prof. Dr. Shahid Pervaiz from Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi, who discussed cutting-edge developments in diagnostic pathology and their applications in public health.
Prof. Dr. Shafiq Gill from the United Kingdom, shared insights into global perspectives on public health diagnostics and the integration of new technologies.
Dr. Najam Udin, explored the challenges and opportunities in diagnostic practices in resource-limited settings.
Prof Dr. Shahzad Khan, from VC National health academy Islamabad, presented innovative approaches to improving diagnostic accuracy and reducing healthcare disparities in public sector.
The symposium provided a dynamic platform for Pathologists, researchers, clinicians, and public health professionals to engage in thought-provoking discussions and exchange knowledge on the latest advancements in diagnostic technologies, their applications in public sector hospitals and their impact on global health.
In his keynote address, Prof. Dr. Sohail Chughtai emphasized the importance of integrating state-of-the-art diagnostic tools into public health systems to combat emerging health threats effectively. Prof. Dr. Faiza Bashir also highlighted the pivotal role of KEMU in fostering medical innovation and training the next generation of healthcare leaders.
