The Department of Paediatric Surgery, King Edward Medical University/Mayo Hospital, Lahore, successfully conducted a hands-on workshop as a preconference event for International Surgicon 2025. The workshop took place in Professor Mahmood Ayyaz’s Skill Lab, providing an excellent environment for surgical training.

Senior faculty members from the Department of Paediatric Surgery and 28 participants from various hospitals attended, making the workshop an engaging and productive learning experience.
The session began with an introductory lecture on umbilical venous catheterization by Dr. Adil Iftikhar, followed by an insightful video demonstration by Dr. Asad Munir. The hands-on training was facilitated by Dr. Jamil Akhter, Dr. Batool Fatima, Dr. Muhammad Azam, and Dr. Abdullah, ensuring that all participants gained practical experience.
A highlight of the event was the thought-provoking and informative speech by Prof. Mahmood Ayyaz on umbilical venous catheterization, which provided valuable insights into the technique and its clinical significance.
The workshop’s success was made possible by the dedicated efforts of the entire Paediatric Surgery Department, including postgraduate residents and paramedical staff. Their commitment to enhancing surgical education and training was evident throughout the event.
