The workshop on Haemodialysis in Children, held today on October 30th, as part of the 27th Biennial International Pediatric Conference, 2024 at Shaukat Raza Khan Auditorium in Pediatric Medicine Unit II, was a great learning experience pediatric nephrology trainees and residents.
After recitation from the Holy Quran, Prof. Mahmood Ayyaz Vice Chancellor King Edward Medical University graced this occasion with his presence. Prof Iftikhar Ijaz welcomed the guests including Vice Chancellor KEMU Prof. Mahmood Ayyaz, Prof. Dr. M. Haroon Hamid, and more than 50 participants from different institutions. She as well highlighted on the objectives of the workshop.
On this occasion Vice Chancellor, Prof Mahmood Ayyaz shed light on the intricacies of HD in children and emphasized on the need of training more human resourse in the field of Pediatric Nephrology to meet the unmet requirements of dialysis and kidney care in children.
In this highly knowledgeable workshop, excellent lectures were delivered by faculty speakers as well. Prof Iftikhar Ijaz presented the basic mechanisms and complexities of haemodialysis. Prof. Naureen Akhtar talked about complications of HD, whereas Mr. Qazi Asadullah discussed water treatment in HD. Dr. Kashif Mehmood outlined essential elements of the haemodialysis prescription.
This was followed by a quiz and practical demonstration which generated great interest amongst the audience.
The workshop wrapped up with the distribution of certificates marking a successful and educational event.
