Today marked a significant milestone at Mayo Hospital (KEMU) with the first-ever joint *Pediatric Clinical Pathological Conference* (CPC) involving Pediatric Medicine and Pediatric Surgery, as guided by the Vice Chancellor Prof Mahmood Ayaz’s academic vision.
Faculty members and postgraduate residents from both departments actively participated in the discussion of two complex cases presented by Dr Jameel and Dr Navaira. This historic collaboration was made possible through the efforts of Prof. Haroon Hamid, Chairman Dept of Paediatrics, and Dr. Kashif Bashir, Head of Pediatric Surgery.
The active involvement of postgraduate residents in this multidisciplinary forum provided them with an excellent learning opportunity, encouraging critical thinking, teamwork, and exposure to diverse perspectives in patient care.
Regular monthly meetings will be held to include other pediatric subspecialties like Peds Oohthalmology, Child Psychiatry and other subspecialities of Pediatric Medicine and Pediatric Surgery, with Dr Kaleem as the CPC Coordinator.
Additionally, plans for multidisciplinary meetings to manage tumours and disorders of sex development (DSD) were also discussed, aiming to further enhance collaboration and learning.
