Successful Completion of 1st Contact Session – Certificate in Health Leadership & Management (Batch II)
The 1st Contact Session of the Certificate in Health Leadership & Management (Batch II) was successfully conducted from April 13 to April 16, 2026, at the Artificial Intelligence Lab, King Edward Medical University (KEMU).
This engaging session brought together a diverse group of healthcare professionals from leading institutions, including Mayo Hospital, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Jinnah Hospital, and Rangers Hospital. The participants comprising doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals benefited from a collaborative learning environment focused on leadership development and capacity building in modern healthcare systems. Through interactive discussions, hands-on activities, and expert-led sessions, key concepts in healthcare leadership and management were effectively explored.
The session featured distinguished facilitators, including Prof. Dr. Mahmood Ayyaz, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Moin, Prof. Dr. Syed Asghar Naqi, Prof. Dr. Abrar Ashraf Ali, Prof. Dr. Nadia Khurshid, Prof. Dr. Ali Madeeh Hashmi, Prof. Dr. Imran Hassan Khan, Prof. Dr. Mustehsan Bashir, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Uzair Qureshi, Dr. Faiza Abrar, and Dr. Farhan Qadir.
On the concluding day of the four-day session, Worthy Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mahmood Ayyaz delivered an impactful lecture to the trainees on the topic “Approaches to Change”. He emphasized that change is inevitable and that meaningful progress requires a proactive shift in mindset, highlighting that effective leadership lies in anticipating change rather than merely reacting to it. He further explained that change may be planned or emergent and can arise from internal needs or external pressures, particularly within healthcare institutions.
Addressing human responses to change, he noted that fear, skepticism, and resistance are common, and stressed that leaders must overcome these through active listening, consistent communication, and bold, timely decision-making. He also underscored the importance of the human element, stating that emotions and vision are key drivers of successful transformation. Concluding his address, he outlined top-down, bottom-up, and integrated approaches to managing change, emphasizing that a balanced and coordinated strategy is essential for sustainable progress in healthcare systems.
